Go with Alpine, You Won't Regret It Review by Moore
Quality Value Price I purchased these speakers to replace my stock speakers in my '94 Toyota 4Runner. I thought I was screwed for front end sound in my truck because due to the '94 4Runner design, the speakers are placed in the dash and 4" speakers are the biggest the dash can hold.
But holy crap to these little guys deliver. First of all they're pretty cheap, and I was amazed at the sound that these little 4" speakers can crank out. The tweeters cover the highs extremely well, and the speakers behind them cover mids really well. However, don't expect much bass out of these guys. I had to turn the bass down pretty low on my deck in order to let these guys get up to higher volumes without blowing them out or producing a less-than-stellar sound. But I have two 12" Alpine SWR-12D4 Type R's in the back, and so I got all of the bass I could ever need from those.
Alpine makes a fantastic product. I wanted the best for my custom sound system, and so I went with Alpine for everything. I have zero regrets. These two speakers combined with my 12's and an Alpine CDE-122 deck gave my truck an incredible sound system.
NOTE - These speakers don't come with any sort of adapter to mount them. My 4Runner already had plastic housings for the old stock speakers with mounts built on to it, and I had to modify the mounts myself to mount these speakers. (Posted on 9/20/2015) -

Quality Value Price Background: I own a 1988 Toyota Pickup, which has stock 4 inch speakers. I did not feel like modifying my truck to fit bigger speakers so I decided to stick with 4 inch speakers. I had previously bought a pair of Scosche HD4003 4-Inch 150-Watt 3-Way Speakers, which were not cutting it all (see my review). I had an Alpine head unit which I liked, and I have read good things about Alpine Type-S speakers so I decided to give these a try.
Pros: Sounds good for a 4 inch speaker. No distortion even with my Alpine MRX-F35 amp. Good high and mid range frequencies. These speakers are also priced at an affordable price.
Cons: No low frequency (bass). I ended up buying an amp and bass tube to solve this problem.
Bottom line: As far as 4" speakers, I would say this is the best bang for the buck. (Posted on 10/4/2014) -

Would you review a 12" subwoofer and downgrade it because of no treble? Why even mention it if it isn't designed to provide it?
Anyways, these speakers are amazing and do everything they should, sounding awesome . I have never used an alpine speaker and been disappointed. I have used tons of different brands and these I consider at the top. (Posted on 10/4/2014) -

Good repleacement for Porsche 911 (996) speakers Review by Michael
Quality Value Price These speakers sound much better than the stock Porsche 911 speakers. Being as the enclosure on these cars only allow for a 4-inch speaker, don't expect a ton of bass, but they are definitely a step above the stock. Search YouTube for the how-to video showing steps on replacing speakers for these cars as well as the Boxsters.

Quality Value Price just replaced these to my logitech z5500 had to use a pair per channel so it can wire to 8 ohms the sound is amazing excellent clarity perfect sound next step is to purchase a receiver and give them some more power these speakers are great would recommend them over and over............

Great speaker to be small Review by James
Quality Value Price I replaced the stock speakers in my Porsche 911 with these and noticed a great improvement (these worked well to retrofit my car with some of the mod videos/DIY that can be found on YouTube). I'm locked into using 4-inch speakers due to the size of my enclosures, and these put out a decent amount of bass to be smaller. Don't expect to have huge bass, but do expect an upgrade over stock speakers the same size.
