Quality Value Price These Alpine SPS-406 4X6's are awesome! first of all, dont expect any bass out of these- way to small. second of all, a GREAT improvement from stock. Everything these speakers play come out crisp, clear, and complete. Quality Value Price Way better then my stock 6x9 door speakers. Tweeters sit in the dash of my 03 grand cherokee. They are nice and clear and add a very balanced sound to my system. I really recommend the 5 channel Rockford Fosgate amp R600x5 paired with these four alpine speakers and a single sub.

Quality Value Price I finished installing these babes with the SPS-610 on my Honda Civic 08 LX and they're definitely better than the stock speakers. HOWEVER, if you have or use an Android phone for music via AUX. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you use the app POWERAMP because the app will amplify the sound output to a level that the stock deck lacks, guaranteed! POWERAMP is one of the best music players for ANDRIOD and its EQ functions is phenomenal! I take the volume up to 25+and you can feel the bass with clear high and mid trebles.

Quality Value Price I am running these directly off my headunit, as I didn't want to get a separate amplifier for my components & coaxials. This is quite an upgrade from the stock speakers in my 4runner. Alpine has always impressed me, and they delivered again.
I will say that these speakers are crossed over at 100hz, and I have a subwoofer to complement them, so I can't comment on their bass response. But the highs are pretty darn clear!
These speakers aren't going to sound quite as good as the really expensive speakers, but they're pretty good for what they are, and at a fraction of the price (and you won't have to buy a separate amp). (Posted on 10/5/2014) -

Quality Value Price The speakers sound great with super clarity. I read some reviews that made the tweeters sound discouraging. I figured I could leave my stock tweeters in if they were that bad. I installed the first one and I felt like a heard some extreme highs and hissing. I decided to leave them in to see if I could tweak the tweeters. I had no luck at first until I realized that my phone app and radio equalizer were both on. Once I turned one or the other off and adjusted my settings, I could not hear the negative sound effects. The Alpine tweeters allow me to hear much cleaner and crisper highs than my stock tweeters were able to do (which is why I could inadvertently run two different equalizers without really noticing it). It took a couple of days for me to get used to hearing the much cleaner highs and now I really enjoy the sound that I was missing.
The 6 1/2 inch speakers sound very clear. Mids sound great but not a lot of bass is heard below 120 hz (I have 10" and 12" subs so I didn't try to get more out of them). I am only running them using a Clarion deck that outputs 23 watts RMS @ 14 volts (my electrical system is approximately 13 volts with a capacitor to prevent voltage drop). I am running them under-powered so they are not as loud as my paper stocks that I replaced. Without an external amplifier for them, I am trading off loudness in exchange for much better sound. Quality Value Price The old speakers in my truck were just horrible, so pretty much any new speakers would be better. These speakers really made a difference though. They sound just as good as the Bose system thats in my dads truck. I will definitely be buy more speakers from Alpine for my rear door speakers and maybe a sub to put in the back.

Quality Value Price I replace a set of type E 6.5" coaxials with these and WOW, what a difference! The type Es sounded good, but they didn't hold a candle to these. These components sound amazing. Clean, crisp highs, smooth articulate mids. Not usind them for bass because I have 2 type s tens to cover the lows, so i'm not rating them an their bass output. I actually think they sound better than my type R 6x9s in the front doors. Considering buying another set of these for the front and selling the type Rs. They are that good.

Quality Value Price Sounds great for the price. I would recommend a sub with these as they don't pick up much bass on there own. The other reason is that, as others have said, the tweeters are pretty bright. It was what I was looking for though because my bass was drowning out the highs and mids which was aggravating. Lastly I would recommend using an amplifier on these because of the sensitivity of the speakers. It takes a decent amount of power before they really come alive. I have two pairs of these in a 2007 scion TC on a alpine PDX 100/4

Quality Value Price The sound from these is nothing short of amazing. Pushing 125 watts to each and set the gains on my amp where max on my head unit is super loud and there's no distortion at all. They could go louder but just breaking them in. I'd recommend these also easy to install

Quality Value Price I purchase these to work in conjunction with coaxial type s speakers because i wanted slightly higher quality speakers in the front of my vehicle. All i can say is Wow these components really are a notch above the coaxials. i previously had a set of 4 pioneers in the car and these alpines sound incredible in comparison. Very bright and clear highs, crisp clean Mids, and powerful lows. these speakers perform exceptionally well!
