Best 8" SQ sub on the market. Period. Review by Lopez
Price Value Quality I've been running these subs since their intro back in '04, I believe - this 'll be my 2nd quad set. Yes, there are less expensive 8" subs out there, that might get louder too, but NONE of them will sound as good doing it. Worth every penny. If sound quality plays a greater role for you over just being 'loud', then these are the way to go. And make no mistake; they DO get loud too!! (Posted on 9/10/2015)

Simply amazing! Flawless! Review by Thompson
Price Value Quality The first thing, as is common with all the W7 line, is the mounting procedure. The method to mount this subwoofer is very unconventional. The first time you do it, it kind of puts you on edge. You are basically disconnecting the surround from its mounting point on the basket. In the end, I do not think its a huge deal, as long as you are careful. The second thing is the cutout diameter of the driver - 6.94 inches - why couldn't they modify the design just a bit and make that 7? I know it seems trivial, but this poses a minor problem when using a router with a jasper jig to cut out the hole. Of course, you can cut a 7 inch hole and its fine. Unless you decide to use T-nuts for the install that is. There just wasn't enough space for T-nuts after making a 7 inch cutout. Since these are very minor issues, I don't feel they warrant taking a whole star off, if half stars were available, then maybe it would get 4.5 for those minor inconveniences, although even that may be taking away too (Posted on 12/27/2014)

I think I found my new favorite subwoofer Review by Martinez
Price Value Quality I have been a long time car audio fanatic for many years and have had the pleasure of experiencing a wide array of speakers and subwoofers. As the title mentions, this may very well be my new favorite subwoofer.
For my installation, I chose to go with a sealed enclosure for the 8w7AE3, even though I generally lean towards ported designs. The main reason for this choice was the location and shape of my enclosure. In this situation, there simply was no way to include a port and not conflict with best practices about enclosure design. In the end I am completely happy with the sound of the sub in the sealed enclosure. It is very detailed and accurate and even has very good output at the low range where many small diameter subwoofers struggle.
I have only run into a couple things I would call negative. Let me say up front, I am absolutely nitpicking here, so take that into consideration. The first thing, as is common with all the W7 line, is the mounting procedure. Since these are very minor issues, I don't feel they warrant taking a whole star off, if half stars were available, then maybe it would get 4.5 for those minor inconveniences, although even that may be taking away too much.
Overall, this is an impressively constructed subwoofer with very high craftsmanship and it sounds fantastic. I would highly recommend the JL 8w7AE3 to anyone in the market for a high quality 8 inch subwoofer. (Posted on 9/3/2014)
