great head unit Review by Adams
Quality Value Price Works perfect with Pac Audio controller. Just did the newly released firmware update 1.09 and unit works perfect. No issues, no bugs, no freezing.. I enjoy the easy to find mute button and the microphone and gps antenna work perfect. I have not used the pioneer apps and only stick to car play. Everything is excellent! Thanks pioneer for a great device !! (Posted on 12/31/2015)

1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme upgrade Review by Kimberly
Quality Value Price Nice modern upgrade for a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. The old Oldsmobile AM/FM Cassette player was in need of replacement. I had not played a cassette tape in it for years and only was listening to FM radio. Now, I can do that and more. I have a thumb drive with MP3s which I can listen to if there is nothing on the radio. Radio reception is no different than previous stock radio. I did try a video in Windows Media Player format and verified it works. You do get a warning about playing video if car is in motion, etc. It is nice to know that feature is there. I can have video out to headsets, etc. if desired. On the Panasonic web site, it lists all the apps available for Panasonic App Radio. I did verify the Apple Carplay works with 5c iPhone. No issues there. I also upgraded all speakers in my 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with Alpine speakers. All in all it was a great, and much needed, upgrade. :) (Posted on 11/13/2015)

Good system. Review by Edwards
Quality Value Price CarPlay works well enough, still has some bugs. I've had a couple issues with audio not playing, and CarPlay glitching out when I start my car with my phone already plugged in. Unplugging and plugging back in has solved all the problems I've had so far. Pandora works great through Bluetooth. The clock caused me some headaches before finally auto setting itself somehow. It took me a while to get video to work. You have to have the Hdmi cable with Hdmi to lightning adapter. In the settings, smartphone connection needs to be set to iPhone/iPod, and digital AV adapter. On the top left of the screen, click the little drop down arrow, and select Hdmi, then it will start mirroring your phone. To use CarPlay again, smartphone connection has to be changed back to usb, and you have to disconnect from Hdmi, and plug in through usb. The screen looks good through the pioneer interface, but CarPlay interface, and playing video are only ok. Haven't tested any of the app radio functionality, since I don't plan on using any of that. I couldn't afford a Tesla yet still wanted CarPlay Review by Anthony
Quality Value Price I really wanted CarPlay and getting a Tesla was out of my league so I opted to upgrade my factory head unit in my 2014 Nissan Juke with the Appradio 4. I managed to install this unit myself including steering wheel controls and very happy with how stylish the touchscreen looks. While I got the base Juke, it now looks like I have a highend dash. Overal the basic functions of this radio are solid: FM, bluetooth, Pandora and audio quality. Appradio from Pioneer is a total joke. It suposidy brings apps like Waze and others to your dash in a similar way as CarPlay but I never got it to work. Looks for the bad reviews of the Appradio app in the AppStore. It's a total hoak. I settled with never using it and instead am all about CarPlay. CarPlay is sweet. Sleek, easy, Siri works well yet it still has some minor bugs where it will lock up occasionally or crash my phone. Also there are very few apps. That being said, it looks like a solid platform and I can't wait for more apps to become availabile. For the price this radio meets my desire to have CarPlay and looks and sounds Apple like. (Posted on 9/22/2015)

Great upgrade for my dinky stock stereo! Review by Phillips
Quality Value Price I got this because I wanted the CarPlay functionality with my iPhone 5s. First of all the unit is very nice and sleek with color customization for the buttons on the side. The CarPlay functionality works great but I find that I like the Bluetooth connection for music/phone works just as well and I don't have to take it out of my pocket. To use the maps you need to plug it in with the lighting cable to use with CarPlay. Over all it beats the stock stereo and the equalizer is a very nice feature. I'm not a "Stereo Guy" but this was an easy upgrade for me and for the price it is totally worth it. (Posted on 9/16/2015)

Best CarPlay integration Review by Mark
Quality Value Price I'm a bit of an Apple fanboy, have an iPhone 6, so CarPlay is a must-have for me. I put this head unit in my Passat and wow. It's not just me. Everyone I've shown this to is like "car radio can do THAT?" The unit looks very clean, performs well, is fast to respond. Some say the limited number of CarPlay apps is a issue. It's not. Every audio app on the iPhone plays flawlessly. It's just that you can control Spotify, iTunes Radio, audiobooks from the head unit because they have CarPlay specific integration. Highly, highly recommended. (Posted on 9/9/2015)

I am extremely happy with the result Review by Wright
Quality Value Price I had this installed in my 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 convertible to replace the Becker Stereo which had sadly passed away. I used a double DIN conversion kit from Suncoast Porsche. I am extremely happy with the result. CarPlay is actually better than I thought it would be. I have an iPod Nano attached to the second USB port and use USB 1 for my iPhone 5S. It integrates beautifully, and allows me to use a lot of apps directly on the stereo. If I use bluetooth only I have full iPhone functionally including the ability to place voice calls hands-free ( essential in a manual stick shift and safer over-all ). With it plugged in full app support is added. Works well with my Bose amp and the GPS antenna makes navigation with iPhone a joy.
Supremely happy with this set-up! (Posted on 8/21/2015) -
Great sq features Review by Aamil
Quality Value Price Great sq features, only thing lacking is the info explaining exactly what cables you need.
For car play only need a lightning cable, but for app radio there are 2 cables and 1 adaptor needed.
There has been a couple of glitches (Posted on 8/19/2015) -

Best auto/smartphone system aside from the Tesla Model S flatscreen Review by Neal
Quality Value Price Install was easy once I figured out how to remove the panels in my FJ because I just bought it. I love my FJ and now I love my Pioneer AppRadio!

Great stereo for CarPlay Review by George
Quality Value Price I was just using the stereo for the CarPlay interface. It is the perfect solution. Simple interface with touch buttons gives it a modern, sleek look. The interface is also customizable. Customized the button colors as well as the splash screen.
As for sound quality. Music sounds great with the factory speakers. Would like to upgrade those next for the full effect. If you really want your SiriusXM radio, you may want to go the next Pioneer model up with CarPlay, this unit does not have built-in SiriusXM. Other than that I can't complain about anything.
