Boom Mat’s new Under Hood Thermal Acoustic Lining was designed primarily for engine compartments as a way to greatly reduce heat and noise with a simple and easy peel and stick application. Extreme engine heat and noise often is a problem with today’s modified vehicles packed with high performance components.
Made of ¾” thick, high quality, industrial acoustical grade foam with a reinforced reflective aluminum covering, Under Hood Thermal Acoustic Lining not only insulates the underside of hoods but serves as a sound deadener and thermal control while protecting paint finishes. Under Hood Thermal Acoustic Lining can also be used as noise control applications such as on generator boxes and many industrial uses including HVAC applications.

Quality Price Value Good stuff for the price. Used this on my 2002 Sequoia to dampen the engine noise just a bit. The product is exactly as pictured. Stick on one side and foil mesh on the other. My engine doesn't have a foam insulated cover like it's fancier Land Cruiser and Lexus cousins, so there is a bit of noise transmitted into the cab. This muffled it a bit which is exactly what I was after. More on the firewall might help too.
Things to know. Edges are exposed foam, so a heat resistant tape is a good idea. I bought a roll that was suggested by You. This prevents the foam from soaking up water like a sponge. Initially I was disappointed that they didn't seal the edges of this boom mat, but I got past that. After all, you probably will have to cut and trim it anyway to fit your particular hood. For what it's worth though, it fit perfectly under the hood of a 2002 Toyota Sequoia. No trimming required.
