Big bass in a compact package
Kenwood's KSC-SW11 powered subwoofer might look small, but it delivers impressive bass. This little powerhouse will fit under a seat in most vehicles, where it'll produce low-frequency response equal to that of a larger subwoofer in your trunk. It offers a great solution for those who want to reinforce the bass in their system without taking up a lot of space.
Big woofer, rigid chassis
Kenwood gives you the biggest bang possible by stuffing an 8-1/4" x 5-1/8" woofer into this enclosure. The rigid aluminum enclosure eliminates rattles, while the durable built-in amplifier feeds the speaker 75 watts RMS. Kenwood throws in a wired remote, so you can control the bass from the driver's seat. A wiring harness and mounting brackets are also included.
General Features:
Who needs a powered subwoofer?
To produce bass, you need a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, and it can be little tricky to match them all up. A powered sub eliminates all the hassle, as the manufacturer designs the enclosure to house the sub and amp together. This all-in-one solution is especially useful in smaller vehicles, where there's no room to mount a separate amp, or in any vehicle where you need every bit of cargo space. Powered subs range from small, flat boxes that fit under your seat to larger boxes that go in your trunk.

Great! Review by Deborah
Quality Value Price I installed this unit in my '02 Silverado under the backseat on the transmission hump, no problems. I used the RCA cable hookup option so I had to buy a set of cables for that, Rockford Fosgate RFI-20, through Caraudiogiants. Probably could have gotten away with a 16ft. set but went withe the 20 footers, no big deal. I connected it to my Kenwood head unit which makes things even easier. I don't have much experience with subs so it has taken some trial and error to get the sound adjusted to where I like it. That being said, this adds the bass to my truck that was missing, and doesn't add the window rattling or overpowering bass that a enclosure would and also saves space. Great unit, great price and service

really good piece of gear Review by Kimberly
Quality Value Price so if you have a car with weak bass (which is like 95% of cars out there), this can really improve your cars sound. it's super slim, and can fit under probably just about any seat out there. i have an E30 BMW, which is older, smaller, and the seats are very low to the floorpan. it's a coupe, so the seats fold forward, and there is enough room for this little guy under the seats. you can splice it into a speaker line for signal, or wire it into a head unit's sub/preamp outs. it even has a +/- swap switch, in case it (or your speakers) are wired in backwards. you can change the frequency response, which helps tune the sound pretty well. overall, this is a really good upgrade that's not too expensive, and you can tell that the speaker is made for this application. some of the other speakers of this type are just regular speakers thrown into a small box. this is much better, and has that weighty feel of quality when you handle it. good stuff.

Great bass addition to an FR-S Review by Laura
Quality Value Price "I wanted to add some low-end to my FR-S without sacrificing the already small amount of space I have in the ""backseat"" and trunk. This was the smallest sub I could find and I'm glad to see that after I got through installing it that it sounds great.
The sub fit perfectly under the driver's seat. I can even drop the seat all the way low and it won't catch. That's awesome, since the sub is completely invisible and doesn't take up any of my usable space!
Sound-wise, it will add a noticeable amount of low-end without become obnoxious. This isn't a window rattling unit, but it does fill a void that exists with the stock stereo. It blends in well with the stock soundstage and isn't overpowering.
It's easy to get your exact settings dialed in with the remote control. I adjusted the volume on my head unit and then adjusted the frequency and volume to get the sound to really blend in. Just for fun, I bumped up the radio's subwoofer output and turned the sub all the way up. The results were a really muddy, overblown bass that just didn't sound good. When you dial it back and keep from pushing it completely, the bass is natural and really seems to fit in.
This is exactly the kind of sub that I wanted for my car. The only thing I had to buy along with this sub were some RCA cables since my head unit had pre-outs. Everything else I needed for install came included!"

Big clean bass sound; small compact size Review by Michelle
Quality Value Price I recommend this subwoofer for anyone looking to add some clean bass in a compact car or single-cab truck, without having to sacrifice trunk/passenger space or weighing down the vehicle. Got this professionally installed in a 1995 Honda Civic coupe in front of the driver seat due to the subwoofer being slightly too tall to fit flush; despite having to sacrifice a bit of leg room, the approx. 10.5' x 8" college ruled notebook sized sub is not intrusive. Due to the sub's small size, my expectations were beyond surpassed. With proper adjustments and volume control, the bass sounds very clean at reasonably high volumes as well as you and the passenger(s) being able to feel the vibrations radiating from the sub. This sub will not rattle the car's windows next to you on a red light, but I have had all my windows open while driving on the highway, and I can still hear the music in depth, compared to having no subwoofer the music would just get lost with all the wind noise. Also the included blue-lit remote control, which offers volume, frequency, and phase adjustment dials’, is convenient. Although, the frequency dial did not seem to work on mine, I was easily able to adjust the frequencies via my in-dash head unit.

Really nice unit for its intended purpose Review by Sharon
Quality Value Price As other reviews have mentioned, if you're looking for a sub to annoy the people sitting next to you in traffic, keep looking. I bought this because my Porsche 944 really needed some extra bass to fill out the sound. Mounting space in this car is almost non-existent. This unit fit perfectly under the dash mounted to the glove box. I could not believe the way it filled in the sound of my system. Best of all, it doesn't require a lot of extra wiring. I probably had it installed in less than an hour. I'm extremely impressed and happy with this purchase.

Fits under driver seat '86 Porsche 911 Review by Ruth
Quality Value Price With the Motronic (electronic control box) and DME under driver's seat, as well as the low clearance of the factory Porsche seat I wasn't sure if this sub would fit under the drivers seat, but it does. Like the wired controller that permits customized level adjustments of sub volume (can pump up to where I'm not just hearing but also feeling the base just prior to distortion for different recording levels of songs). Could do without the blue light on the remote though while driving at night. This is a great little sub boost for tight places, helping round out the lower end of the audio profile in my car, but it is not going to rock the vehicle like a full sub would. For my purposes in this old car (hidden but felt when needed) it is perfect. I wonder what two of them would sound like (there is the passenger side tempting me...).

Nice little sub that will complete your system. Review by Carol
Quality Value Price It's like adding the sub to your computer speaker system. It will complete your sound system and give it that extra bass that's missing from the 5x7 or what have you in your door panel. It won't rattle the car next to you like a huge box and two 12"s would, but it also won't take up the trunk space that it requires. This fits right under my 2dr integra seat, and gives you a nice little rattle on your back and bum. Only one thing, since it slides under one seat, it kinda gives it an unequal balance, I hear slightly more sound on my left side since it's under the driver's side. I imagine if you could get another one under the passenger, that would solve it. But that's not a product defect, just where you position it. I imagine if you have it in the back of a cab, it wouldn't be a problem. Very easy to install, plug it in the back of your head unit, ground one wire, attach another to the fuse box and you're good to go. For the price, size, ease of installation, 5 stars.

Excellent for the size and price Review by Donna
Quality Value Price I purchased this subwoofer because of its compact size. I did not want a huge box in my trunk and thought this would fit nicely under my passenger's seat. I also have a Kenwood KDC-X997 receiver in my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix; keeping the same brand was a plus. I installed this last night. It took about 4 hours, there was not enough room under the passenger seat. I tried my rear seats but discovered that there is no cavity under the seat. So I had to install it in the trunk. I have an unused OnStar system in my trunk. I was able to find the power on that harness and run it to subwoofer. The RCA cable does not come with this unit I thought it should have. The unit does come with long cable that can connects to existing speakers. I guess they do this since you can buy an RCA cable anywhere and the supplied speaker cable is a specialty cable. The remote control has a 16' foot cable that easily reached the trunk. I installed it in my center console. I installed the subwoofer as close as I could to the back seats. It sounds incredible. I was able to turn off the bass boost setting on the receiver and crank up the subwoofer setting. Now I can hear the full range of sound. The bass can be loud. It could be loud enough to annoy the driver next you at the light. But it's not powerful enough to annoy anyone in their homes as I drive by. I don't intend to turn the bass up that much anyway but I wanted to give you an idea of the power. I am very satisfied with it.

Phenominal Review by Sandra
Quality Value Price After reading dozens reviews I decided to purchase the unit as it was one of the few that would fit under the seat of my '87 Toyota MR2 replacing the clapped out stocker. I was really surprised at the sound of this compact unit. No, it won't rattle the windows of the next car over but, it POUNDS in my little car! It really more than fills in the missing bass as a result of the small speakers in the stock locations. It was easy to install and once I adjusted the head unit (Sony CDX-GT360MP) and the sub controls it was phenominal. Way more than expected. Those few negative reviews must have had faulty units or not set up correctly. I would recomend this unit to anyone who needs a compact, effective subwoofer.

Exceeded Expectations Review by Young
Quality Value Price "I have never went the sub woofer route and I have always held self powered sub woofers in low regard. Over 30 years of owning a 1979 MGB there have been about 5 major car audio revisions but never a sub woofer. I do not like booming bass or listen to rap. Since the Kenwood KSC-SW11 looked like an easy fit behind the drivers seat I gave it a try.
Love it. The Kenwood BT955HD Center Unit has sub woofer out pre amps and can configure the crossovers. Front door speakers are 6 1/2 Polk MM6501, when the HPF is set to 100Hz the mids become much clearer, I set the rear deck Polk M691 HPF to 80Hz.
Major low cost improvement, bass is clean and tight and blends correctly with the other speakers, mid range no longer has that muddy sound from trying to produce bass that it can not. Who knew?"
