Customer Reviews

"Everything works great, and all the features are useful. I like the traffic, HD Radio, Pandora, and iPod inputs. I wish there was a way to omit the things I don't use from the front menu. XM/Sirius, aHa Radio, Bluetooth Audio, OEM Features, and a bunch of other input options that I don't use take up a lot of space on the top menu.

The navigation works great, and is a huge improvement from the Pioneer Z130BT in my other car. Although, because the nav is from Garmin, it uses a different font and overall feel than the rest of the unit.

Another small annoyance is when I use the input button on the steering wheel I have to go through all the inputs and end up hitting the button several times before I can get to the input I want. The up and down buttons also act as seek buttons and not next preset for radio stations.

Other than the small things, it has been great."

I have two of these units. One for our motorhome and one for our Honda Fit. With all the features the interface can be a little confusing at first, but once you learn how to access the features the Kenwood performs quite well. The reason I went with the Kenwood over some other brands was the Garmin navigation. It's a highly evolved software, works well and is easy to use.

"My stereo guy (Andrews Installs LLC, Denver, CO) highly recommended this unit due to the eXceleon features. Sounds amazing. bluetooth phone an streaming radion from android are amazing. GPS is very good and offers alternate routes.

My issue:
This needs to ditch the DVD/CD part and put in an SD or MicroSD slot for music."

Installation had some complications; no telephone support to answer questions can be a problem; I am lucky to have a talented installer (although not by profession) in the family; software not exactly complete when received; Website download was necessary. Would not be an easy task for tech-sap like myself. Apparatus sometimes temperamental as, at times, it will not connect Bluetooth; you need to turn it off, then, on again. GPS very nice; a pleasure to use. Pandora does not seem to cooperate with my Iphone 5; works better via the "Bluetooth" mode.

Great receiver! I had it professionally installed as I didn't feel comfortable installing the steering wheel control wiring, Kenwood back up camera, Sirius module and antenna, etc. I was really surprised at the clarity of the screen and the ease of use of the various modes! I have had Kenwood products in the past and felt comfortable buying this unit!!!!!

Works vary well, good features, easily installed in my 2011 Camaro with wiring harness. Thinking of getting one for my truck.

Had this unit for a week and my only complaint is that the Smartphone Link app apparently doesn't work on an iPhone paired to the 690HD unit. Everything else is nice and easy to use - I upgraded to latest software Ver1.08 with no issues. GPS works perfectly, hands free - voice activated phone is nice with no echo/feedback, Pandora is awesome. All-in-all pretty pleased.

installation was simple enough, and i love all the features! works seamlessly with my phone, and the navigation is top notch.

Nice unit, Garmin is still one of the better nav firmware companies. Sound quality is excellent.
